About TMR

I've played hockey my entire life and have always been a die hard Rangers fan. Now that I'm done chasing the dream, I play in a few beer leagues but it just isn't the same as the glory days. I started this blog a little over a year ago and it has since evolved into something I really enjoy. Do I one day aspire to be a professional sports writer? Possibly. My dream job is being a general manager of a professional hockey team. My mood is hopelessly attached to whether the Rangers win or lose on a given night. I despise Sidney Crosby, loathe Martin Brodeur, and think Ricky Dipietro uses more hair products than any man should ever use. My name is Ryan McFadden and I am the editor of The Manic Ranger blog. Be sure to comment whether you like what I have to say or not. I can be reached by e-mail at tmrangerblog (at) gmail.com

Rangers Third Jersey?

I was mindlessly stumbling around the 'net earlier this afternoon and came across an Rangers third jersey concept on Puck Drawn (pardon the fishstix art). The jersey was submitted by Mike Majeski and he put together a pretty solid look.

Mike writes:
I liked the Rangers liberty third from years ago, however, I always felt it was a little too modern looking for an Original 6 team. Therefore, I felt if the Rangers get a new third jersey, they should go vintage, rather than modern. The concept I based this off of was worn during the 1946-1947 season. It features the Rangers word mark arched over a number on the front. I then put the primary logo used during the late 40s and early 50s as a shoulder patch. I think it is simple, clean, and classy look for this Original 6 team.

I like the jersey he put together. Although to me, it looks more like a potential replacement for the home jersey they already have and that absolutely is not going anywhere. I also think that if the Rangers put together a third home jersey, it should be navy as the base color. Then of course there is concern with the name across the front and the players individual number below it. It reminds me a bit too much of those putrid Thrashers jersey's that will no doubt be part of the reason Ilya Kovalchuk bolts next summer. Even though to be fair, it doesn't look bad on this jersey. My favorite part though, is the logo selection for the shoulder patch. Nice choice.

I think it would be great if the Rangers could put together a third jersey. I don't want them to change a thing to what they have already, but adding a third to the mix would be a good idea. I'm probably in the minority on this one, but I really the liked the white liberty jerseys (it actually hangs on my wall). A matter of fact, I really liked both liberty jersey's and would be happy to see either or back in use. I would love to see a spiced up version of the 70's era jersey.

I would try and put together my own jersey but my attempts at photoshop and all things of that nature are.. well they're embarrassing. If any of you guys have some ideas and put together a good look, send them my way at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. ~UPDATE~

Nick from Rangers Tribune sent in this design. It's a spin on the Rangers Liberty jersey... The navy jersey, not the white version that has some people baffled as to why I liked it. Thanks to Nick for sending it in.

Oh yeah no problem. Thanks to you too. I kinda like both of them. I just want something new ya know? I'm really up for anything that looks decent or if one that comes out even better. I think they should do a thing with the fans if anything. I mean come on, the Garden Faithful can contribute in all sorts of ways smilies/cheesy.gif

they should bring back the throwback jerseys they wore for a handful of games in 1991-92 for the nhl's 75th anniversary, the were modeled after the team jersey from the 30's-40's

How about the New York Rangers bring back the white & navy alternates & make them into the "NEW" home&road jerseys & make a 3rd jersey in red & a special alternate in black(all featuring the"Statue of Liberty" logo.
