The list is long: Saturday, Wayne, Tamme, Mathis and Manning all could be gone next year. Dallas Clark knows it too:

“This is going to be a rough year,” Clark said. “There’s always guys, but this year there are guys, they make this locker room. When you hear, Reggie, you think Colt. Robert, he’s a Colt.”

Clark let out an exasperated sigh.

“It’s not going to be good,” he said.

But the perfect choice would be Jeff Saturday. He won a Super Bowl with the Colts, and he was an instrumental guy as a member of the NFLPA’s executive committee who was a giant influence on getting the CBA in place and saving the season.

Without him, maybe there wouldn't even be a presentation.

Considering TE Dallas Clark’s injury history — he missed five games this season and was sidelined for the last 10 games of the 2010 season — Tamme makes a lot of sense. Tamme’s base salary was about $600,000 this season. It won’t take much more than that per year in a standard three-year offer to keep him. The vet minimum this year was $810,000 per year.

With Aikman, the Packers likely wouldn't have been the pathetic team that hired Ron Wolf late in 1991 to be the GM. And Mike Holmgren likely wouldn't have been hired. And surely Brett Favre wouldn't have arrived in trade early in 1992.

More Jets speculation

Bowl:

Ryan idolizes Manning and holds him in higher regard than he does Tom Brady. GM Mike Tannenbaum is extremely aggressive. And Manning, who will turn 36 in March, will surely want his next stop to be with a Super Bowl contender. The Jets are much closer to winning it all than the Redskins, Seahawks, Dolphins, Browns, Chiefs, Broncos or Cardinals, who could all also use a quarterback upgrade.

Another factor: Tom Moore, who was Manning’s offensive coordinator and mentor for almost his entire time with the Colts, has been a Jets offensive consultant this season. His presence could be a big selling point for Manning.

The last meeting of the Jaguars and Colts is normally a hot ticket. It generally
is a game with big implications, big emotions and a nice warmer weather escape
for Colts fans. This year it may be blacked out.

The Jaguars were granted a 24-hour extension by the NFL today to avoid a television blackout for Sunday’s season finale against the Indianapolis Colts.

The team has until 1 p.m. on Friday to sell about 5,300 remaining non-premium tickets. Whenever the Jaguars requested ticket extensions for other home games this season, the blackout was lifted.
